There are MANY causes of Tinnitus! |
As with most things in life, there are very few universal truths relating to the cause(s) of Tinnitus. There are two very common reasons that many people suffer from Tinnitus and that undoubtedly leads most people to think that these two frequent causes are the common thread in all cases to Tinnitus. Loud noises cause TinnitusThe loud noise can either be "frequent loud noise" or one specific "loud noise".
The cause of your tinnitus might be related to the rock band you played with for five years, the 16 concerts you've attended in the last two months, the jack hammer that you've been operating 40 hours per week for the last twenty years, or the bomb that exploded much to close to you. All of these things are possibilities to consider. Remember that just because you don't like rock music and never play with jack hammers doesn't mean that the frequent loud noise is not the cause of your tinnitus tinnitus. One looks all of the treatments available and you realize it's a widespread problem.
In our society noise pollution is a very common experience. What you need to do is apply the frequent loud noise principle to your personal history and see if any thing jumps out at you with possibilities. Were you exposed to unusually loud sharp explosions? And, it could just as easily - and probably most likely be - that the cause of your tinnitus is a combination of frequent and/or loud noises. You have to remember that the component parts of your hearing mechanism are very sensitive and somewhat fragile. We abuse our hearing regularly throughout life because unlike a broken finger that hurts immediately, when we damage our hearing there is seldom immediate pain. The damage is done in little tiny steps until one day the pain we experience doesn't seem like pain at all. At first. If you've been experiencing tinnitus yourself for a few years you know that it may not be pain as in a broken finger but it's pain nonetheless. And, it snuck up on you when you were not expecting it at all. |
